Union's Coyotes were truly the wonder team of the 1959 football season
running up a 7-1-1 record including six straight wins. Given only an outside chance of coming up with a
winner, Coach Sam Winningham found his team had jelled early and
watched the Pack come from
behind to defeat West, 14-13, and Yuma, 27-25. Highlight of the season saw the Coyotes' unbelievable tie with Mesa and
the big victory over North High.
