Boasting a dual meet record of twelve wins and only one loss, the Phoenix Union harriers wrapped up the Coyotes' fourth state championship and took second place honors in the city meet to cap a fine season Although no Phoenix Union distance man finished better than sixth in the state meet the Coyote harriers carried off most of the first 20 spots to take the title by a narrow margin. Jose, Felix and Oscar Flores along with Bob Castillo led Coach Fuenning's 1959-60 squad.
